John + Katelyn, Wedding

They said I Do as the sun set behind the vineyard, under a big tree with friends and family seated all around. It had been a beautiful, breezy day with blue skies and sunshine, but now the wind died down to a whisper and the blue skies gave way to a warm glow, as if they knew the busyness was over and all that was left was to be quiet and watch the ceremony unfold. John had been adamant about not seeing his bride before this moment, before she walked down the row of vines to meet him. He knew it was to be special, and he knew it would be worth the wait. He wasn't wrong-- tears and smiles were on faces when he saw Katelyn, hand on her dad's arm, in her beautiful ivory dress, walking towards him. They clasped hands and read letters to each other, exchanged their rings, and bowed heads as the preacher prayed over them. When they were pronounced husband and wife, the minister said, "Kiss her already!" And John did just that, as the crowd clapped and cheered. They walked back down the row of vines, this time together. They danced the night away with their friends and family, and ended their special day with a kiss and a run through the golden sparklers. <3

Thanks so much you two for letting us be a part of your wedding! And special thanks to Michelle Bulla for being my wonderful second shooter.

Mindy + Dustin, Wedding

(Though this couple said I Do in a church in town, Soleil Garden Center was kind enough to let us take most of the formal pictures on their lovely grounds before the wedding. Thanks so much, Soleil!)

Dustin and Mindy walked out to the garden for their first look, ferns and beautiful greenery cascading all around. When Dustin turned around to see her, they beamed at each other with pure happiness. They hugged, maybe wiped a few tears from their eyes, and then read letters to each other in soft sweet tones only they could hear. We walked to other parts of the nursery after that, taking pictures along the way-- Dustin & Mindy not letting go of each other's hands for long, and still smiling every time they looked at each other. In fact, I think that was the theme for the rest of the day, even through the final dance and exit from the reception!

During their ceremony, I had kind of a special moment as the photographer. Mindy had emailed me after they booked with us and asked if I would share our wedding vows with them. (I had mentioned something about them in a blog post once, about having non-traditional vows for our wedding, which was one of my favorite things we chose to do. I had actually borrowed them from a previous bride & groom I worked with and just loved the Christ-centered feel of them.) Anyways, I forgot that she had asked me about them until it came time for them to say their vows at their ceremony. They began, and it took me back to when we said the same vows at Soleil a few years ago. I remembered feeling the same kind of emotions on our day as I think Dustin and Mindy must have been feeling then-- excitement, love, a realization that this moment was finally here, the one that I had dreamed about my whole life. I hope in a few years when they look back on their day, it brings back as many wonderful memories for them as ours does for us. <3

Congratulations Dustin & Mindy! I hope you love your photos as much as we loved working with you all!

Kallan + Dalton, Wedding

They were sweethearts who dated through high school, through college, and who stuck together even when jobs put a few hours' distance between them. So although these two are still young, they have a relationship that has already proved itself over the years. Dalton knew last winter that it was time to take the next step, and with much thoughtfulness planned the sweetest proposal to Kallan, complete with Christmas lights, a hidden photographer, and family waiting to celebrate after she said yes (which, of course she did!) I was so happy for them when I saw their engagement posted on Facebook, and was even more excited when Kallan asked me to be their wedding photographer. I knew this couple was a special one, and I knew their wedding would be stunning.
And their wedding did not disappoint-- it was the loveliest day of July, with cooler weather than usual for that time of year, and blue skies with white fluffy clouds. They said I Do under a canopy of trees, with the beautiful Moran Place beside them. The sun was setting as they said their vows and smiles and happy tears were on faces as they walked back down the isle as husband and wife. They danced and visited with friends at their reception, the whole yard full of celebrating, before kissing under the sparkers and driving away. It could not have been any more beautiful, any more magical, if it tried.
Congratulations Kallan & Dalton! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your precious day! And a special thank you to Michelle Fisher for being my second photographer/assistant.
