Families & Little Ones

Chess and Siblings

I photographed this little guy several months back, but for his 18 month session we invited his siblings along as well. :) We had a grand time running around by the pond, boat, and cabin, taking pictures and exploring a little. Anna Francis and Kail were great as well, helping us bring smiles to Chess's face while battling the June heat and mosquitos! We've been doing sessions either in the morning or late afternoon recently so we can try to have cooler temps and of course, better lighting. :) I almost never shoot mid-day unless it is inside, or unavoidable with schedules (or weddings!). When the sun is right above our heads it can make for some pretty harsh shadows and squinty eyes. For this session we started in the morning, but most of my sessions that do not involve children are started about two hours before dark. So there's a handy tip for ya!

I love this age, and how the smallest things can capture their attention. Also a little jealous of his sweet eyelashes! ;)

James & Lexie

Let me introduce you to James and Lexie, a super sweet, fun, and adorable couple who are celebrating five years of marriage!  I love it when I get to photograph married couples, because who said you needed to stop documenting your story after you say I Do? :) For this session we walked around downtown Martin for a bit of a classy feel, then headed to our rustic location to get those more natural, casual pictures.  I'm having a tough time deciding which location I like best for them! Also, poor James had to live with me mixing his name up the whole session! I don't even remember which name I kept trying to call him, but a few times I didn't catch it before it slipped out! Unfortunately this isn't the first time that's happened.. once I called my client's husband Frank I think, which was the neighbor's dog's name. :/

Sinclair Family

I had the privilege of photographing this sweet family a few weeks ago on a nice, hot TN evening. :) It was partly a family session, and partly the twins' one-year session. We walked around their grandparents' yard and took pictures along the way, everyone taking turns riding in the golf cart with Grandma while the mosquitos buzzed all around. (Wouldn't be Summer in the South without them, of course!) The two older children were such sweet little helpers when it came to the twins' pictures and made silly faces behind me while I tried to capture a few smiles. I'm sure they are all going to be best friends someday! :) _MG_3440 copy

All smiles!

Yay for patty-cake!

I love this age, where everything they pick up is fascinating-- like dirt! ;)
