Little Baylor at six months old!
The forecast was sunny but the high was in the 20’s the morning of this session, and we knew that was going to be way too cold for sweet Baylor and her little family. So I called my friend Julie Davis, who has a studio in Milan, TN, and she graciously let us use her space for a few hours that morning! Baylor stayed warm and cozy, and she gave us some sweet smiles as she showed us how she could sit up and how she could grab her toes. :) It may not have been the background we had planned on initially, but I love how these turned out and am so grateful to have clients who are understanding when the weather doesn’t cooperate, and friends like Julie who lend a hand when it is needed.
The Harris Family
I know there are a few different families represented here, but it all started with Mr. and Mrs. Harris, who then became a mom and dad, who then became in-laws, who then became grandparents, so we’ll put them all under the Harris family umbrella. :) It was a job in itself finding a date to get everyone together for this session, but I’m so glad it worked out, because I have such a love for extended family sessions. I know it is important for everyone in the picture, but I just think it is especially important for the little ones to have these for when they grow up. How special will it be for them to look back on this season in their lives and see everyone together and all these smiling faces?
It was so nice to work with these sweet families, most for the first time. All the kids were incredibly well behaved, and everyone was kind and helpful— from making silly faces and such behind me to encourage smiles for those in front of the camera, to carrying my little crate around for me. Truly a wonderful family all around!
Snow + Fall Mini Sessions 2018
We had such a wonderful, wonderful time with these mini sessions! I have lost count of how many families actually came through, but I was so happy to see each and every one of these sweet faces. Some we met for the first time, and others have been in front of my camera several times before.
Last Spring I started planning for these, and kept coming back to the idea of having some kind of snow for the sessions. However, here in Tennessee, you get lucky if you see snow in December— snow in the middle of October is unheard of. I could always add some fake snowflakes in photoshop, but I wanted it to be something the families could really interact with. Imagine trying to tell a 3 year old to look up and try to catch the snow, when nothing is falling from the sky. :) So I researched a lot of different options, and finally found a machine that would produce some “snow” for us! It was exactly what I wanted, and it brought out so much joy and lots of smiling faces, from the young to the young at heart.
This year’s mini sessions were not without some obstacles— from the little rain showers that came out of nowhere, to the electricity going out in half the city for about an hour, which meant we couldn’t run the snow machine… There were definitely some things that didn’t go quite as planned. But I have to say a huge thank you to my clients, who were all incredibly understanding and rolled with the punches with us! :)
Thanks so much to everyone who came out, we had such a great time seeing you all! And special thanks to Beth Ann, who helped with running the magical snow machine and was such a wonderful helper with any little ones who were not sure about this whole picture-taking thing.
For anyone wondering, the snow machine came from a company called Snowonder, and here is their website: https://www.snowonder.com
